Work Incentives Planning and Assistance (WIPA)
The Social Security Administration (SSA) has a program called the Work Incentives Planning and Assistance (WIPA) program. WIPA enables people with disabilities, aged 14-65, who receive Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits to receive and use accurate information to make a successful transition to work.
CIL of the Keys is an SSA WIPA project that serves the following South Florida counties: Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade, and Monroe. Some of the assistance provided in this program are:

Orientation about SSA work incentives

Help to understand how employment will impact your benefits

Ensure informed choices

Eliminate fear in pursuing employment

Prevent and/or resolve benefits issues

Help identify needs and make referrals

Explore employment options

Identify local service providers

Access community resources

Build assets

Access follow-up services
Early intervention and education about benefits and work incentives helps prevent future problems, such as overpayment, unplanned or unexpected loss of benefits, financial hardships, etc.
